Since 2009, The Fairways Golf Membership has been synonymous with Ohio’s best golf value.
When we first launched The Fairways Golf Membership, we did so with a few goals in mind. Our first goal was to provide an unprecedented value to golfers of all kinds in Northeast Ohio. Additionally, we felt it was important that we do something meaningful in growing the game by making it as accessible as possible. Lastly, we recognized it was important for us to be accountable to our patrons on a regular basis – and a membership does just that.
Today, the Fairways Golf Membership has grown from a one course offering to include Mallard Creek, Pine Brook, Briarwood and Dragon Ranch. This memberships allows golfers of all kinds, from the scratch player to the weekly hacker, to enjoy the game the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
And now, 10-years since the first Fairways Golf Membership was offered, we are expanding upon those same ideals with the all-new 2019 Fairways Golf Junior Membership!
In years past, The Fairways Golf Membership did not necessarily suit junior golfers (ages 17 and under) as the cart fees are mandatory for members and golfers must be 18-years or older to rent a cart.
So, we have created The 2019 Fairways Golf Junior Membership built around the ideals of growing the game and making it more accessible to junior golfers across Northeast Ohio.

Membership Cards Will Be Ready within 24-Hours
After purchasing the Junior Fairways Membership, we just need the registration form filled out and submitted to us prior to using the membership. The registration form can be found here and provides us with helpful information to provide our Junior Members with a great golfing experience all-year long.
If you have chosen to have the membership card shipped to you, we just ask that you fill out the form and submit it back to us. Once we have received the form, we will ship the card to you.
For those opting to pick-up the membership card at Mallard Creek, we will simply handle the form at the time of pick-up.
Now it’s Time to Use The 2019 Junior Fairways Membership!
It is always a good idea to have a tee time before coming to any of the courses. This way, you know that you there is room on the course and no events or outings preventing open play.
If no tee time was made, we will always do our best to get golfers on the course. That said, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so 100% of the time.
When arriving to the course, simply check-in with pro shop staff by presenting your membership card and letting us know what tee time you are with for your round of golf. After you have checked-in with the pro shop staff, it’s time to let the starter know you are present and ready for your tee time. Once you have done that, the only thing left to do is to enjoy your round of golf!

Frequently Asked Questions
What ages are eligible to be a Junior Fairways Member?
The Fairways Junior Membership is available to anyone under the age of 18-years old at sign-up. There is no minimum age requirement as we believe parents have a better idea of their child’s ability to use the membership.
Beyond the cost of the membership, are the additional costs with each round?
All Junior Fairways Members have access to unlimited golf for the entire 2019 season at Mallard Creek, Pine Brook, Briarwood and Dragon Ranch Golf Clubs.
As you must be 18-years old or older to rent a golf cart, juniors are permitted to walk the course and play at no additional cost. We do have pull carts available for rental and that cost is just $2 for the entire day.
On a side note, if a Junior Fairways Member is playing with an adult and going to be riding along in the cart, then cart fees of $7 per-9 and $14 per-18 holes do apply.
When can Junior Members play?
One of the best things about The 2019 Junior Fairways Membership is the flexibility it offers in regards to the times it can be used.
All Junior Members will be able to play:
- Monday – Friday: Can play any time from sunup to sundown.
- Weekends and Holidays: Can play any time after 11 AM on these days*
The only other restriction is that the Junior Fairways Membership cannot be used for leagues or outings as these groups book tee times further out than other golfers have the ability to do so.
* Junior Members may play prior to 11 AM on weekends and holidays if they are accompanied by and playing with an adult. Prior to 11 AM on weekends and holidays, cart fees are mandatory.
What kind of access do Junior Members have to practice facilities?
All Junior Members have access to all of our practice facilities at each course. In regards to the chipping and putting greens, those are free to use for all.
When using the driving range, standard rates for buckets do apply. That said, we do offer an Unlimited Range Pass at your choice of Mallard Creek or Dragon Ranch that may be a good value to your junior. All Junior Members are entitled to the member pricing discount for Unlimited Range Passes. (Currently $99 for members, $119 for non-members)
Where will junior golfers be teeing up on each hole?
It is ultimately up to our Junior Members to decide what tees they find best suits their needs.
For those in high school, the white tees (Men’s) or the blue tees (Pro’s) are often the best option. For the younger juniors who have some experience, the most common tee to play from are the red tees at the front of each tee box.
To make the Junior Membership more inclusive for all skill levels and ages, we will also have speciality Junior Tees on each hole. These will often be placed to allow teeing up from the utmost tee box or the beginning of the fairway to make the experience and learning to play easier and more fun.
If you or your child are unsure of which tees to play from, here are some benchmarks based on average driving distance:
- Blue Tees: Avg. 225+ yards
- White Tees: Avg. of 200, less than 225 yards
- Red Tees: Avg. of 125+ yards
- Junior Tees: Avg. of less than 125 yards
My son / daughter has their driver license. Can they use a riding cart?
At all of our courses, the cart rental policy requires the driver to be 18-years of age or older. As Junior Fairways Members are younger than the required age to rent a cart, they cannot rent a cart regardless of if they have their driver license or not.
If a Junior Fairways Member is playing with someone who is over the age of 18-years old, they are welcome to ride along in the cart. When riding along with an adult in a cart, the cart fee of $7 per-9 and $14 per-18 holes does apply.
Are pull carts available at the courses?
Yes! Pull carts are available for rental at all of the courses. The cost to rent a pull cart is just $2 for the entire day.
If you own or plan on buying a pull cart for your child’s use, that is absolutely okay too.
Do the courses offer rental equipment?
We do offer rental equipment at each of the courses with a small selection of junior equipment. While we’re happy to allow your junior golfer use of this equipment (it is about growing the game and making it accessible for them after all), we do suggest your junior has a set they can use on a regular basis.
Some Equipment Suggestions:
- Hand me down clubs are a great way to provide your child equipment. In fact, most golfers begin their lifetime of golfing with clubs from an older sibling, cousin, family friend, etc.
- Another workaround here is taking an adult men’s or women’s set of clubs and having the shafts cut down to better suit your child. Various golf shops, including Mallard Creek, Golf Galaxy and Dick’s Sporting Goods offer this service at an affordable rate.
- While equipment can be expensive, there are often very affordable junior golf sets that are perfect for beginners.
- Winfield Golf offers various junior sets, including a bag, starting at about $100.
- RockBottomGolf.com has a wide selection of junior sets, starting at less than $100.
- US Kids Golf has started a great program that allows you to trade-in sets each time your child grows.
- Misc. Golf equipment isn’t a requirement for juniors.
- Items such as golf shoes, gloves or golf specific apparel.
- Golf balls can be expensive, but they don’t need to be. Both used golf balls or cheap, refurbished golf balls offer a great value – especially for beginners.
Are there any rules or guidelines we should be aware of?
One of the best things about introducing the game of golf to a child is the etiquette they learn and can apply to other aspects of their daily life.
After you sign your son / daughter up for The Junior Fairways Membership, you will also receive a packet of etiquette points and some general guidelines. You can also view the document and / or print it out by clicking here.
How do tee times work?
It is always a good idea to schedule tee times. This way, staff members know who is joining them that day and how many players they will have.
When you make a tee time, you guarantee yourself a spot on the golf course. Tee times are convenient for you because they allow you to know what to expect prior to arriving at the course.
We will always do our best to accommodate you if you do not have a tee time. However, it is much easier to make sure you have a tee time by going online to the course’s website or calling over the phone. There are times throughout the season when the course may be booked with a golf outing or golf league – and there’s nothing worse than arriving to the course without a tee time to find out there’s no place for you to get out and enjoy a round of golf. Tee times are beneficial for all!
In case of emergency, what’s the procedure?
We understand that you are trusting us with the safety and well-being of your child each time you bring them to the course.
When you first sign your junior up for the Fairways Junior Membership, we will also have you complete a contact form for our records. You can view that form by clicking here.
In the event that an emergency does happen, we will assess whether immediate medical attention is required and act accordingly. Additionally, we will contact the emergency contact via phone and email as soon as possible. If we are unsuccessful in contacting the emergency contact, we will continue trying and begin reaching out to any additional contacts we have on file associated with your child.
While we do not foresee this being an issue and plan on having an emergency-free season, we have made sure to have a plan in place and an understanding from all of our staff members to act in the best interest of our junior golfers at all times.
Is there a phone available for my son / daughter to use?
Yes, we are happy to allow your child to use the phone in the pro shop at each course. Also, if you need to reach your child or leave a message for them, we are happy to do so.
